Sometimes happy times make people sad. It really hurts that I have to be one of those people but I guess I have a lot of baggage to cast aside still before truly enjoying life.

I miss Battlestar Galactica. :(

Speaking of, on the new Muse album, there's a three part epic called "Exogenesis," which is basically about humans leaving Earth to populate another planet and start over. <3

It's weird, certain memories of mine have a "smell" and "feel." Not of something like flowers or food. It's hard to describe, but the air feels lush and cool, and the environment lively. The smell is inexplicable and fresh, but sometimes there's an undertone of bittersweetness too.

I wish I could explain it but it's a nice feeling that I like to try to conjure up, but it comes rarely. If I could only capture it more often, I'd feel more content.

quicklist of recent stuff

-Saw Dream Theater at Brookhaven Ampitheater on Saturday. Great night for a show, and the set list was pretty good. Enjoyed hearing them play Erotomania and Voices live, and hearing the Count of Tuscany (one of my new fav DT songs) as a closer was kick-ass. Even got to see some "black clouds and silver linings" for real!

-Bought a box set of seven Sookie Stackhouse novels. Since my foray into Twilight failed miserably because of how, well, miserable the books are, these should do.

-In the process of trying to salvage that X-Box 360 I found on the curb with Aady. We got it open and took the "X" clamps off. Step two to commence soon when we get more screws.

-Possibly looking at a four day weekend at my cousin's place in Arizona. Flying out Oct. 8th after work and coming back October 12th in the evening is the idea at the moment.

-However, I'm starting to scrape a bit for cash and this could affect whether I decide to go or not. Gonna have to pimp out the web design thing again asap.

-Playing guitar after an extended hiatus has been refreshing.

-Lost 2 pounds.

-Fuck running a guild in WoW. I don't have time for it!

-Sup dawg I heard you like memes so I put a meme inside your meme so you can lol while you lol:

Rebuilding

I still feel like I'm rebuilding parts of my life since last year. Some of it is excellent, others not so much. Taking it day by day.

I jammed with some of Dan's friends on Saturday. They kind of sound like a keyboard driven power metal band that takes the pop style lyrics approach. I actually thought it was a little lame at first but the music started to grow on me. Mostly because I feel that if Dan's getting involved, the guitaring is going to kick it up a notch. Maybe Sonata Artica-ish. My singing seems to go with it but I feel like I need to kick it up a notch too (an octave, even) which will push me to non-Phoenix Reign style singing. We'll see. I'm better in my mid range comfort zone but I can try something more 'epic' I guess. Their keyboardist is fucking ridiculous though, let me tell you. He trained at Juliard and everything.

Otherwise I've been coasting along...I started my Special K two week diet yesterday and it's going ok. Not hungry or anything, but I'm sure I'll get bored food-wise after a while. At least it's only meant to last two weeks. I've pretty much exclusively switched out to whole grain everything and eliminated the "bad" snacks from my diet. I'm going to go to the gym tonight now that I feel better than I did yesterday. (I had to put someone in their place and it drained me emotionally...but I feel good now so I guess it was necessary).

Hm...that's about it for now. Can't wait to see True Blood from this week now that it's downloaded at home.

Yeah, weighing myself at the gym last night brough me to a sobering reality that I need to take control of my life better. I'm getting more motivated than depressed this time. I put on the weight because of depression, so no use in continuing it any further.

I hope by summer's end to feel a lot better and have my health in check. Day one is going well so far.

I feel bad that I've let my Livejournal go so far between posts. I still think that LJ is a more enjoyable social networking experience than Facebook, Twitter, etc. but it really does take more time to tend to. And time is something I've been short on as of recent.

I had off from work last week, which was nice, and managed to visit my parents for about 4 days. Dan came with me and met my dad this time (he already met my mom when she was visiting in NY) and it went well. My dad can be a very challenging guy from time to time but everything went about as well as I could've hoped.

Been watching True Blood recently because of Spoon's recommendation and I am enjoying it. It starts off a little corny but it gets good quickly. The Swedish guy (Alexander Skarsgard) that plays the old Viking vampire is the best guy of the show IMO, LOL. Of course I'd like that.

Dan got me a Saitek Eclipse II gaming keyboard (I guess you could call it that, there are no programmable macro shortcut keys but it does light up pretty colors) and I'm enjoying it. I'm almost level 74 and one day my blood elf paladin will rest on the throne of level 80 one day. Then I can start doing some heroics and eventually Ulduar. Then I can pretty much play my ally character for a change of pace with my dad since now even HE PLAYS WOW. Yes, my dad plays WoW.

Apparently that music video my band worked on is going to be uploaded and debuted on July 28th.

I need to stop being lazy and clean my room. Things most important to do:
-install the 1tb drive still sitting around (need to get a sata adapter first)
-install new dual layer dvd drive Aady gave me
-throw out massive amounts of papers from school I don't need anymore
-donate some old clothes I don't wear anymore
-buy a rug for the center of my room
-hang up my diploma lol
-throw out all of my brother's stuff if he doesn't move his shit in all the other rooms of the apartment

I could've signed up for the Network+ course but for some reason I refrained because I don't want my saturdays destroyed for the next 3 months. I'd rather wait til they have evening sessions in the fall. For some reason that's more tolerable to me.

Hmmm what else...I dunno, I guess that's about it. I need another vacation.

Is awesome. I installed the RC and just bought the upgrade. Microsoft's having a sale for the next 2 weeks so if you plan on getting it, now's the time.

P.S. - No problems running a 64 bit OS yet, on top of it!

On the new laptop. Might as well try right off the bat, and if it sucks, just reinstall the original OS.

Finally did it

Bought a new lappy. It looks like this. It has a good ATi HD Radeon video card, Core 2 Duo processor, 3gb RAM, 250gb Hard Drive, blah blah. The computer came out to being under $700. Shipping and tax made it more expensive but whatever it's worth it.
